Kristin Smith, an artist with roots in fine art training from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Collin County Community College, and the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, has spent a lifetime in pursuit of creative expression. Early in her career, she worked commercially, starting in lithography, then advancing to studios like John Goes Art Studio, and finally to a Point of Purchase studio in Milwaukee. These experiences provided a foundation in the arts before Kristin transitioned to advertising sales in 1989, and eventually fulfilled her dream of painting full-time after retiring in 2008.
Kristin’s artistic path has led her through various media—watercolor, mixed media, acrylics, oil pastel, and collage—each exploration feeding her curiosity and passion for color and texture. Her pieces have been exhibited in Dallas, including ArtSpace at Metropolitan, and in juried shows with the Plano Art Association, Texas Visual Arts Association, and the Creative Arts Center. Most recently, Kristin’s work was featured in the November–December 2022 exhibit at LockhARThouse in Lockhart, Texas.
Each work Kristin creates is a dialogue between intention and spontaneity. While a concept might set her brush in motion, it’s the creative process itself that shapes the final composition. For Kristin, art is more than expression—it’s a testament to the magic and artistry of life itself. As Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”—a sentiment that resonates deeply with Kristin’s view of the endless possibilities that art offers.
